It is in 1993 that the collective HAL came to life. Exploring the possibilities of communication offered by the emergence of Internet, Black State Choir members and PDCD's label manager initiated their artistic collaboration on the basis of exchanging music samples libraries through the Web.
After years of unreleased musical experimentations (collaborations with Martin Bates - Eyeless in Gaza, with Mona Soyoc – Kas product or the Nebka project), HAL and the big 5 is the new musical project by HAL.
HAL and the big 5 - Umoya - is a new musical adventure which takes its energy at the roots of the South African world Music.
